Dr. Michael Cudworth Santiago, MD, FACS
Dr. Cudworth was born and raised in Santiago, Chile. He is fully bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English with native fluency.
He graduated from the prestigious Pontificia Universidad Católica De Chile, the top medical school in Chile which is consistently ranked among the top universities in Latin America.
He completed his General Surgery residency at the University of Illinois Chicago. He graduated fully certified on the Intuitive DaVinci Surgical Robotic platform. He went on to complete a fellowship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center under the visionary leadership of Dr. Dmitry Oleynikov and Dr. Corrigan McBride, in advanced minimally invasive laparoendoscopic surgery, primary and revisional bariatric surgery, as well as complex hernia/abdominal wall reconstruction (AWR). He also performs diagnostic/therapeutic bariatric upper endoscopy, including endoscopic weight loss solutions such as the Orbera gastric balloon and the endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG). He is fully board-certified by the American Board of Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
Dr. Cudworth strives to provide compassionate and patient-centered care, while harnessing state-of-the-art technology to deliver cutting-edge surgical treatment and improve outcomes. Dr. Cudworth’s approach to patient care philosophy is to treat patients as he would like his members of his family treated. He is particularly passionate about his role as a bariatric surgeon helping patients with obesity improve their health and achieve their goals.
